Dr. Randy Hitesman has rejoined Suncoast Humane Society as their Director of Medical Services/Veterinarian. He heads medical issues at the Society’s public Spay/Neuter and Preventive Health Care Clinic, as well as overseeing the wellness of animals admitted to the animal shelter.

Dr. Hitesman is a graduate of Ohio State University where he received a BS in Nutrition and his degree in Veterinary medicine. He has practiced veterinary medicine for over 30 years in Texas, Pennsylvania, New York and here in Florida. He helped Suncoast Humane Society expand their public preventive health care services from 2008 thru 2011, when he left to open his own practice in Punta Gorda.

Suncoast Humane Society executive director, Phil Snyder, stated; “It is great to have Dr. Randy back in charge of our medical services. He is an asset to our medical needs and a very compassionate person towards the animals, staff, and volunteers as well as with the public.”

Dr. Hitesman echoes; “They say home is where the heart is, and my heart is with helping animals, especially homeless shelter animals. I want to help assure they end up in a healthy happy home.”
