Welcome to humane.org.  We feel we have created an exciting website that explores the meaning of the word humane.  This site encourages us to think, feel, and in fact, be humane.  It promotes the fact that being humane means treating each other, and all living things with compassion and kindness.  Humane Societies are animal care and protection organizations, however, their role should be to help both people and animals.  Being humane was never intended to be directed towards only animals.  The goal should be to create a humane environment for everyone, truly a humane society.  It is very exciting and yet seems so natural that a web based domain name such as humane.org, created for the ease of identification, would be used to originate a concept with such an important meaning.  Please enjoy our many pages of information devoted to the theme of practicing kindness and promoting humane attitudes.
