Banfield Foundation provides support through several different grants. In 2020, Banfield Foundation developed the COVID-19 Respond and Rebuild Grant that was utilized for the purpose of assisting our organization as we rebuilt our capacity to care for pets and resume medical operations.

BISSELL Pet Foundation exists to support animal welfare organizations and provide resources to underserved communities. This includes helping to reduce the number of animals in shelters and rescues through pet adoption, spay/neuter programs, vaccinations, microchipping, and emergency support. Finding a loving home for every pet is the ultimate goal of BISSELL Pet Foundation. Sometimes our furry friends need a little extra help, and that’s why we created Empty the Shelters adoption events that take place across the country. Prospective pet owners will have the opportunity to adopt a pet for a reduced fee while BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors the remaining cost!
Bissell Foundation has partnered with Lost Pet U.S.A. to help reunite lost pets with their owners. You can enter your pet information into a nationwide database and also find resources in your area to help you in your search. If you’ve found a pet you can enter the information into this database as well.
Bring Fido is the world’s largest pet travel website and is used by millions of people each year to find pet friendly hotels, restaurants, dog parks, pet friendly events, as well as other pet resources and services. Suncoast Humane Society will receive $10 each time someone uses the code: SUNCOASTHS2018 in the gift code box at checkout and completes their stay.
Charlotte Community Foundation
As the Center for Philanthropy in Charlotte County, the Foundation focuses exclusively on the needs of Charlotte County. Providing more than $900 thousand dollars through granting alone in 2020, the Foundation provides personalized donor services to assist individuals in establishing tax advantageous charitable funds, which provide distributions, grants and other resources to support nonprofits in Charlotte County. The Foundation’s mission is “Connecting people who care with causes that matter”. Community Foundation of Sarasota County
The James W. Wherritt Charitable Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County provides funding for our Shelter Angel Medical Fund which helps with costly medical treatment for animals in need of special care prior to being placed for adoption.

Florida artist Nancy Colby has gained a well-deserved reputation for watercolor paintings, and is often told that her paintings are so real, that you can almost pet the fur! We house several of our adoptable cats at Petco in Port Charlotte and Venice so that they are more easily seen by the public. Stop by and visit – and hopefully adopt! Adoption Specialists are on site to assist you with the adoption. We have received generous grants from the Petco Foundation which helps us continue to offer our programs and services to the communities we service.
We are honored to welcome a new Satellite Adoption Location inside the Petsense store in Nokomis, FL. Stop by for a visit and meet some of our cats available for adoption.
Englewood
We house several of our adoptable cats at Pet Supermarket in Englewood, North Port, and South Venice so that they are more easily seen by the public. Stop by and visit (or better yet adopt) our fabulous felines there. You can also drop off pet food for our Pet Pantry program.
PetSmart generously donated a van to Suncoast Humane Society and continues to support through collecting donated goods for the homeless animals such as: food, toys, beds and more!

Pets for the Elderly Foundation
The Pets for the Elderly Foundation helps pay the fees to participating animal shelters, like Suncoast Humane Society, throughout the United States for senior citizens who adopt a companion dog or cat from a participating shelter – including pre-adoption veterinary exams and spay/neuter, if part of the adoption fee.

Every 3rd Monday of the month WENG has us on their Morning Magazine radio show with Dee Roberts at 9:30. We bring an adoptable dog and talk about everything that’s going on at the Animal Care Center. Join us if you can!
