Make a tribute gift.

A tribute donation is a meaningful way to recognize family, friends and loved ones, including pets. By making a gift in their honor or memory, you celebrate their lives while helping animals in need. A notification of your gift will be sent to the person or the loved one’s family. This is a great way to recognize birthdays, anniversaries, weddings or the passage of a person or pet.

Contribute to a A Donor Advised Fund (DAF).

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is like a chartable investment account for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations. When you contribute cash, securities or other assets to a donor-advised fund at a public charity, like a community foundation or at a financial institution, you are generally eligible to take an immediate tax deduction and you can recommend grants to virtually any IRS-qualified public charity.

Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA.

Supporters 70.5 or older with a traditional IRA are eligible to make a potential tax-free donation to Suncoast Humane Society from their IRAs. These gifts are tax-free, regardless of whether or not you itemize deductions on your tax return. If you are 72 years old or older, these gifts can even count towards fulfilling your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the calendar year. You can use our online tool to make your tax-free donation online, print out the forms you need to complete the gift offline, or learn more about the benefits of giving from your IRA.

Donate an item from one of our wish lists.

We are in constant need of items that allow us to care for our animals. Anything you give is appreciated and put to great use. For ideas about what to donate, check out our Amazon Wishlist or our Chewy Wish List. Other Needed Items:
Latex and Latex-Free Disposable Gloves, Sizes Small through Extra-Large
Kong Toys (M/L/XL Extreme)
Greenies Pill Pockets
Cleaning Products Including: Bleach, Windex, Dish Soap, Hand Soap, Air Fresheners (We use specialized cleaning products for sanitizing the animal areas, but a variety of cleaning products are needed for general use.)
Rabbit, Ferret and Guinea Pig Food and Bedding (For the small pets surrendered to our animal care center.)
Mops, Brooms, and Squeegees
Paper Towels, Toilet Paper, & Trash Bags
Postage Stamps
Office Supplies (All types of office supplies can be used!)
Toys (A variety of toys are needed to keep the animals entertained. Please keep in mind that toys made of solid substances can be sanitized and reused.)
Treats donated will be given to our rescue partners. (We are unable to feed most treats to the dogs being sheltered at Suncoast Humane Society. Being in an animal shelter environment can be very stressful for many animals. The feeding of certain treats, in addition to their well balanced meals can lead to digestive issues. This can be challenging for the medical team trying to maintain the health of our shelter animals.)
Towels & Blankets (Towels & blankets are needed to provide comfort for the animals. They are used as bedding for dogs & cats and can be sanitized and reused. We are unable to accept comforters or pillows.)
Pet Food (Dog and Cat food is used to feed pets belonging to families in need. This program helps to keep pets in their homes. Opened bags of food are used to help local wildlife rescues.)
